CELEBRITY ADS: AL JOLSON

In 1928, Al Jolson was considered the greatest entertainer in the world, and justifiably so. His role in the first talkie The Jazz Singer (1927) revolutionized the movie industry. Here is an advertisement from 1928 (the year my Grandfather was born) as Jolie is promoting Lucky Strike cigarettes. I love how the advertisement says no throat irritation and no cough. Are they even allowed to make Lucky Strikes anymore?!?!?!  If you look closely, Jolson was also starring in his next movie The Singing Fool...
